Theodoros Papachristou

Theodoros Papachristou is the Director General of ACI EUROPE, which represents over 500 airports in 55 countries in Europe. ACI EUROPE handles more than 90% of commercial air traffic in the continent. In June 2019, the organization committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, without relying on offsetting. Theodoros has extensive experience in governmental and lobbying roles, having worked for Alitalia, Air France, and the Air Transport Directorate of the European Commission. He has held positions such as Director of Institutional Relations for Alitalia and Chair of the Association of European Airlines Policy Committee. Theodoros has also been involved in the EU’s High-Level Group on aviation regulation.

Traffic Coordinator

Gardis joined ACI EUROPE as a Database Assistant in December 2022 and quickly progressed to become a Traffic Coordinator for the Economics & Competition department in June 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Iran and a Master of Science in Environmental & Resources Management from Brandenburg Technical University in Germany.

Gardis has previous professional experience as an English Teacher and an Admission Officer in Iran, as well as various roles in Germany including Tutor, Educational Assistant, and most recently Research Assistant at Brandenburg Technical University. Apart from her professional background, Gardis is multilingual, speaking fluent English and German, and is currently learning French and Italian. She has a strong interest in different cultures and languages, as well as a passion for plants, nature, and sustainable living.

Agata Łyżnik

Senior Advisor Airport Carbon Accreditation

Agata Łyżnik is an experienced professional in aviation, sustainability, capacity building, and policy issues. He has over 20 years of experience and has worked in Europe, India, and other regions, gaining valuable insights into the industry. Since 2014, he has been serving as the Senior Advisor to Airport Carbon Accreditation and has contributed to the ACI EUROPE Sustainability Strategy for Airports.

Agata Łyżnik successfully managed environmental issues as the Manager of the Environmental Department at Athens International Airport. He played a crucial role in designing the Airport Carbon Accreditation and has been involved in EU projects in India. He has also contributed to the academic field as a visiting assistant professor at Duke University. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with organizations like the World Bank and EASA on capacity-building projects related to airports and the environment.

Alexandros Ouzounopoulos

Director of Airport Capacity & Operations

Alexandros Ouzounopoulos is the Director of Airport Capacity & Operations at ACI EUROPE, a position he has held since September 2018. His responsibilities include overseeing slot allocation, airport capacity optimization, airside operations, safety, air traffic management, and operational performance.

He works closely with various organizations such as the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, EUROCONTROL, and the European Commission. Before joining ACI EUROPE, Alexandros worked as a Senior Policy Manager at CLECAT and has experience in public affairs consulting and working at the European Commission. He holds a B.A. (Hons) in European Studies & French from the University of Durham and an MSc (with distinction) in International & European Politics from the University of Edinburgh.
